Sometime in World War II, we are in a poor village in Ireland, near Galway, on the coast. There is no television in the village, only a few people go to the cinema in the nearby big city, there is hardly any radio or newspaper, many of the actors cannot read or write - or if they can, they are reluctant to do so. The news spreads by word of mouth, as rumours, new information is added here and there, other times frivolities considered unnecessary are added to it.
